Northwest Missouri Cellular, which is celebrating 20 years of service in northwest Missouri, is also making some significant changes to the company image.

Known more commonly to customers as Northwest Cell, the company chose to follow suit and officially shorten their name to NorthwestCell.

"We've been conemplating the idea of changing our name for some time," general manager Roger Bundridge said. "Many of our customers already refer to us as NorthwestCell, which encouraged us to move forward."

Bundridge points out that the name change was done primariily for branding and marketing reasons in order to eliminate confusion regarding coverage.

"When we first started, the name was descriptive of our service area," Bundridge said. "We have long since offered nationwide plans with no charge for roaming, but the name has at times resulted in the perception that we only offer local coverage. In reality, a simple comparison of NorthwestCell coverage maps with those of our competitors reveal we actually offer the best nationwide service available to customers in this area."

Bundridge added that the company has not been sold, legally they will retain the Northwest Missouri Cellular, LLP name.

“We remain the same locally owned and operated company that has served this area for over  twenty years,” Bundridge said.
