One killed, one hurt in accident

JASPER, Mo. -

One Pittsburg, Kan., woman was killed and another was seriously hurt in a vehicle crash north of Jasper, Mo.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Jessi L. Barnard, 21, was killed, and Jeanne A. Molina, 21, was taken by helicopter to Freeman West Hospital with serious injuries after the crash that happened at 11:50 p.m., Saturday on North Main Street a half-mile north of Jasper.

The patrol said Barnard was driving north when she missed a curve in the road, traveled off the right side of the road, hit some railroad tracks and overturned.

The patrol said Barnard was thrown from the vehicle, which landed upright on top of her. Neither woman was wearing a seatbelt.

Barnard was taken to Weng Funeral Home in Jasper.
