As the Bearcats continued their familiar second half push Tuesday, their slumping offense finally came to life.

Alec Rosales and Landinn Echardt led an offensive resurgence that saw the Bearcats score 15 runs and collect 20 hits in a doubleheader sweep of Nebraska-Omaha at Bearcat Field.

The Bearcats scored three late runs to win game one 6-3 and a seven-run fourth inning powered them to a 9-1 win in game two.

Northwest (12-20, 11-15) has now won four straight and six of its last seven since the start of the second half.

"We've been getting better every week after a slow start," said Northwest Missouri State head coach Darin Loe. "The biggest thing today was we got two big pitching performances out of our two leftys and we've started getting those RBI singles. We can't forget how we do this and hopefully we keep that rolling going into Pitt State."

For one of the few times this season, the Bearcats combined quality starting pitching with a dynamic offense.

Usually, it's the offense that's been missing.

Prior to Tuesday, Northwest had been held to three runs or less in 11 of the last 12 games.

Their 15 runs were the most in a doubleheader this season.

"We don't need many runs to get wins out of the deal," said Loe. "It was nice to put up that big seven spot. We gotta take some confidence away from that because that was a pretty good UNO team."

Rosales continued on his recent tear and came through again for the Bearcats in the clutch with a game-winning RBI single in the sixth inning of game one.

That was his third straight game-winning RBI.

Rosales hit a solo homer earlier in the game and finished the day 4-8.

"He's swinging the bat real well right now," said Loe. "He's swinging with confidence, playing with confidence. I think that's the biggest key with this team right now. We're playing more confidence. We're eliminating anything negative."
