Taking advantage of Alexa Taff's absence, Jefferson buried St. Joseph Christian in the first half and delivered the knockout punch in the fourth quarter of a 47-27 win Tuesday night in Conception Junction.

With its best player out, Christian produced no more than 10 points in any quarter and as few as seven in three of them.

Jefferson outscored Christian 12-4 in the first quarter and 15-7 in the fourth.

Kendle Schieber continued her hot streak with a game-high 18 points. She was the only player on either team in double-figures.

Shanna Welch scored six points. Jill Henry and Ashley Merrigan each had five.

Four different Hornets combined to hit eight three-pointers.

Darian Burke made three. Aleesha Ball and Brookylnn Morris had two each.

Burke led the Hornets with 16 points, Aleesha Ball scored 15 and Rebecca Geib chipped in 12.

The Hornets got off to a hot start with a 17-point first quarter and didn't let up much after that, scoring at least 10 in the final three.

South Nodaway had a pair of seven point quarters in the middle.

Longhorn senior guard Cheyanne Murphy pumped in a game-high 21 points with five three-pointers.
