After losing their starting quarterback Aaron Wallace to a shoulder injury early on in the first quarter, things just continued downhill for the North Nodaway Mustangs in a 46-12 loss to Craig-Fairfax Friday in Hopkins.

With 5:38 left in the first quarter on a fourth and one, Nathan Hinrichs put the Hornets on the board. Craig-Fairfax would put three more touchdowns on the board before halftime.

Craig-Fairfax came back strong again when Thauan Andrade ran 65 yards to put six more on the board for the Hornets in the first minute of the second half.

It wasn't until the fourth quarter that the Mustangs got on the board with a 60-yard carry to the end zone. With less than a minute on the clock, Jon King added North Nodaway's second touchdown.

"We run a spread offense and when you lose your quarterback early in the game, our offense just went down the drain right there," said North Nodaway coach Tim Conn. "John King has practiced throwing during practice, but not the spread and he had five or six mess ups. But that's expected. We're a real young team and we just have to get better at practice and make our practices more to the level of a game."
