The Maryville High School girls golf team hosted Smithville at Mozingo in the season opener and grabbed a big win, defeating the Warriors 192-237. 

Senior Amy Van de Ven shot a 44 to claim the medalist position.  Shannon McClellan was right on her heels with a 46.  Jessica Pfost came in next with a 47, Megan Shell a 55 and Brooke Byland a 58.  The course played tough for the girls as they played the back nine with a 30 mph wind. 

For the first time in several years, Maryville has a junior varsity team.  And with their season opener, they also brought home a win, defeating Smithville’s JV 241–278.  Taylor Maughan brought in the low JV score, shooting a 48.  Meghan Klaas came in next with a 52. She was followed by Cassie Holtman with a 69, Ali Throm 72 and Megan Hoyt 75. 

The girls played a triangular Wednesday night in Cameron that also included Chillicothe.
