The Maryville softball team has come out of the gates hotter than a firecracker.
After opening up Monday with a rout of South Harrison, the Hounds went on the road Tuesday and hammered Savannah 10-2.
Maryville totaled 16 hits and got a sparkling pitching performance from ace Holly Wilmarth.
Taylor Gadbois led Maryville's 16-hit attack, going 5-5 with four runs scored and an RBI. Baylee Scarbrough went 3-4 with a run scored.
Amanda Nally and Mataya Wooten were each 2-4 and combined for RBIs. Wooten was responsible for three of the five RBIs. Molly Stiens was 1-4 with a two-run homer—Maryville's first of the year.
Wilmarth, Hailey Roush and Blair Twaddle each added a hit.
The Hounds (2-0) broke open a 3-2 game with five runs in the third and three in the sixth.
Wilmarth (1-0) went the distance and allowed just four hits with two strikeouts and three walks. The losing pitcher for Savannah was Stewart. She allowed all 16 hits.
Maryville heads out of state Thursday to take on Falls City, Neb., at 5 p.m.
