Ruth Larmer Savage Ph.D., 86, passed away peacefully at Parkdale Manor Nursing Home in Maryville, Missouri on July 5, 2008.

Ruth was born August 27, 1921 on a farm near Quitman, Mo. to George and Verda Meyers.  She received  her B.A.  and M. A. in Elementary  Education form Northwest Missouri State University and a Ph.D. in Elementary Education from the University of Nebraska. Ruth taught for 40 years in various elementary schools and was a professor at Northwest Missouri State University where she retired in 1986.

Ruth was a member of the Wilcox United Methodist Church, American Association of University Women, American Association of Childhood Instruction, Phi Delta Kappa, Delta Kappa Gamma, Retired Teachers Association and the Ireland Club.

There as a special place in Ruth's heart for her former students. She relished living on her family farm in Burlington Junction, Mo. Ruth had a great appreciation of the beauty of nature. She enjoyed gardening, antiques and taking care of every stray animal that came her way.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Savage.  Her survivors include two sons; Jeffery Larmer and wife Pat, Bozeman, MT, and William Larmer and wife Gail, Stilwell, Kan, two granddaughters; Courtney Larmer, Denver, Co. and Haleigh Larmer, Bozeman, Mont; and one sister Beth Sherlock, Atchison, Kan.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 8 at 10:30 AM at the Wilcox Methodist Church in Wilcox, Mo.  The family will recieve friends from 9-10:30 AM prior to the service.  Burial will be in the Wilcox Cemetery, Burlington Junction, Mo.  Memorials contributions may be made to the Wilcox United Methodist Church or the Nodaway Humane Society.
