Charlene Dunkin, 93, passed away peacefully, Sunday, June 29, 2008 at GoldenLiving Center, Maryville, Mo.

She was born Sept. 2, 1914 and was a longtime resident of Hopkins, Mo.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Jack Dunkin, her parents, L. R. and Goldie (Watson) Wiley and sister: Donabelle Orcutt.

Surviving are her daughter, Judy Blair, three grandchildren: Dayna Sharp, Darren Acampora and Joe Acampora and seven great-grandchildren, all of California.

Charlene attended Maryville State Teacher’s College and on Jan. 11, 1937 she married Jack.  They moved to Burbank, Calif. where Jack was employed by Lockheed Aircraft as an engineer and Charlene was an office worker, although homemaking was her main choice.

Lockheed sent the couple to Germany where they lived, worked and traveled for two years.  Many, many friendships were made, several countries were visited and both agreed that it had been a wonderful, fulfilling experience.

After returning home to California, they decided that their retirement would be spent in Hopkins, and in 1972 the move was completed.

Charlene frequently played the piano and organ for friends, family and the church congregation. She was also a member of P E O.

Her kindness, cheerfulness and smile will be missed by many.

There will be a private graveside service for Charlene.
