Amy Florence Stuart, 88, (formerly of Maryville, Mo.) passed away Sunday, June 21, 2009, at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Mo.
A kind and gentle soul, she was known as the "Official Greeter" of the Indian Meadows Nursing Center. She peacefully departed, surrounded by her family.
Florence was born July 8, 1920, in Clearmont, Mo., the daughter of Clarence and Amy (VanBuren) Holbrook. She was a 1940 graduate of Amity High School, College Springs, Iowa.
Florence married John Stuart, on June 1, 1949 in Clarinda, Iowa. A homemaker, she also worked in private homes as a caregiver.
She was a member of the Maryville Community of Faith Church, VFW Auxiliary, The Rosanna Chapter #262 of the Order of the Eastern Star, The Shepherd's Center, The Golden Agers and Jolly Elders, all of Maryville.
Mrs. Stuart was preceded in death by: her husband, John on April 18, 1994; her parents and a sister: Frances Emma Holbrook.
Survivors include her son, David (Phyllis) Stuart, Springfield, Mo.; her daughter, Linda (Tim) Fisher, Kansas City; a grandson, Brent Stuart, Camdenton, Mo.; two great-grandsons: Jeffrey and Jason Stuart and their mother, Sarah, Mountain Grove, Mo.
Visitation is 10-11 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2009 at Community of Faith Church, Maryville Mo., with services at 11 a.m. at the Community of Faith Church.
Burial will be in Nodaway Memorial Gardens, Maryville.
Memorials may be given to the Community of Faith Church, Maryville, in Florence's name.
