Dr. Charles Ernest Hawkins, 74, Maryville, Mo., died Saturday, June 28, 2008, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, Mo.
He was born July 25, 1933, in Cochran, Ga. to Minor and Amanda (Shedd) Hawkins. A veteran, he was retired from the United States Navy.
Charles married Jacqueline Margaret Barrington on Sept. 21, 1956, in Christchurch, New Zealand.
He received his BS in accounting and MS in Business Administration from Memphis State University and his PhD in Business from the University of Nebraska. He was a professor of Accounting at Northwest Missouri State University and retired in 1993. A member of the Community of Christ Church in Maryville he was also a volunteer for many groups.
Preceeding him in death were his parents, son Kenneth Hawkins, daughter Karen Hawkins, and brother Harry Hawkins.
He is survived by his wife Jacqueline, Maryville; three sons: Norman Hawkins, Waukegan, Ill., Larry Hawkins and wife Lisa, Independence, Mo., Mark Hawkins and wife Carla, Archie, Mo., three daughters: Margaret Elizabeth Mayson, Provo, Utah, Melanie Turner and husband Gary, Pensacola, Fla., Heather Faustlin and husband Steve, Ravenwood, Mo.; granchildren: DarLynn, Allison, David, Ryan, Lindsay, Danielle, Joshua, Shelby, Andrew, Kaitlyn, Jacob, Courtney; great-granddaughter Aurora; two brothers: Everett Hawkins and wife Helen, Syracuse, Neb., Jesse Hawkins and wife Margaret, Huntingdon, Tenn.; sister Lena Phillips, Cochran, Ga.; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at Price Funeral Home Chapel, Maryville.
A visitation will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday, June 30, also at Price Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Maryville.
