Richard J. Wilson, 52, of Kansas City, Mo., passed away at his home on July 2, 2008. Born in Fairfax, Mo., Richard had formerly resided in Maryville, and Skidmore, Mo., and Watervliet, Mich. He had been a resident of Kansas City for the past 12 years.
Richard had done contract computer work for most of his life. He was also a musician and singer. He was formerly employed by NWMSU in Maryville, in the Computing Services Department.
Richard was a former Eagle Scout in Troop 74, Maryville. He graduated from Maryville High School in 1973. He also was a graduate of the University of Missouri, Columbia, Mo.
Richard was a Methodist and had formerly attended the Lone Jack, Mo. United Methodist Church. He had also been in the United States Air Force.
He was preceded in by an infant son, Jonathan Neil Wilson, on June 12, 1974.
Richard is survived by a son, Phillip A. Wilson, Watervliet; a step daughter, Holly Jo and husband Dan Dent, Oregon, Wisc.; a sister, Lee Ann and husband Anthony Cocchiara, Tuttle, Okla; two step grandchildren, Gavin and Hunter Dent, Oregon; his parents, Monty and Irma Lee Wilson, Maryville; a niece Kimberly and husband Shannon Mosby, Eldridge, Iowa; a great-niece, Olivia, and great-nephew, Jackson Mosby, both of Eldridge.
Richard has been cremated. His memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2008, at the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville. Burial was in the Miriam Cemetery, Maryville. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials to the American Diabetes Association, or the First United Methodist Church, Maryville.
