Geraldine Elizabeth (Henderson) Sherman, 89, of Maryville and formerly of Barnard, has gone home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at the Nodaway Nursing Home.
Geraldine was born on June 6, 1919 to Matthew and Ira Amanda (Steele) Henderson in Melton, Fla. Geraldine graduated from Pahokee High School in Pahokee, Fla. She then graduated from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in New Orleans, La.
In 1949, Geraldine married the love of her life, Marcus M. Sherman in Cairo, Ga. They were married for 47 years before Marcus went home to be with the Lord. In eternal life they have joined a son Mark Lee Sherman, a daughter Elizabeth Ann Sherman and a granddaughter Janice Elaine Sherman.
Remaining family from the marriage of Marcus and Geraldine are son: John Sherman and wife Kathy, Terrell, Texas; three daughters: Linda LaMaster and husband Duane, Guilford, Mo., LauraBelle Proehl and husband Rick, Altoona, Iowa, and IraJo Sherman, Maryville; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, July 7, 2008 at the Whitesville Baptist Church, Whitesville, Mo. Final resting place will be in the Whitesville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Danfelt Funeral Home, 951 S. Main Street, Maryville, MO 64468 on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Friends may call anytime after noon on Sunday.
