Shirley Ann (David) Zeliff, 74, of Maryville, formerly of Mound City, Mo., passed away Feb. 14, 2012 at a St. Joseph hospital.

Shirley was born in Gentry, Mo. on April 15, 1937 to Myrtle (Hill) and Earl David. She was graduated from Mound City High School in 1955. On Aug. 12, 1956 she married John W. “J.W.” Zeliff. He died July 4, 1997.

Shirley was an administrative officer with the Department of Interior, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for 30 years, retiring in May 1994. She worked most of those 30 years at Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge.

She was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Mound City. She taught Sunday school and served as a counsellor at church camp for many years. She was a member of Paul P. Shutts American Legion Auxiliary, and the Clio Club of Mound City.

Shirley is survived by one son, John W. Zeliff and his wife Nancy and two granddaughters, Lauren and Leslie Zeliff, all of Skidmore, Mo.; and two sisters, Delores Boyd of Henderson, Nev., and Wanda and her husband Eldon Geisler of Boulder, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Paul and Earl David Jr.

Graveside services and interment: Friday, Feb. 17, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Mound City. Memorials: Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge.
