Northwest Missouri State University has announced the appointment of a new vice president of finance. Northwest Missouri native Stacy Carrick will begin her new duties in February.

A graduate of Bethany High School in Harrison County, Carrick received a bachelor’s degree in 1988 from Northwest, where she majored in accounting. She is also a certified public accountant and holds a master's degree in business administration from Webster University.

Since 1991, Carrick has held a number of positions at Heartland Heath in St. Joseph, most recently as director of Decision Support Services, where she was responsible for the operating budget, cost accounting system, allocations, labor/management productivity, operational and clinical benchmarking and patient-level financials.

She also oversaw an automated "dashboard," or data tracking system, related to  organizational performance.

Prior to employment at Heartland, Carrick was a senior auditor at the Kansas City offices of KPMG Peat Marwick (now KPMG), one of the world's largest auditing and professional services firms.

"We are absolutely thrilled to have Stacy join the Northwest family. Her skills and competencies, track record and Bearcat background are perfectly suited for this position," said Northwest President John Jasinski. "Stacy’s background with budgeting, cost containment and revenue generation and performance metrics will aid Northwest as we lead forward in these interesting economic times."

As vice president of finance, Carrick will be a member of Northwest's senior administrative team. Her responsibilities will include overall administration for budgeting, accounting, payroll, cashiering, purchasing and insurance.

"I look forward to this exciting and challenging opportunity and am proud to be a part of the Northwest family,” Carrick said in accepting her new post. “Northwest is an innovative and progressive university with highly committed leadership, faculty and staff dedicated to providing world-class educational programs and services while also focusing on the needs of the community and region."

Carrick is a member of the Bearcat Booster Club and has been active as a volunteer with the Pony Express Council of the Boy Scouts of America and United Way of St. Joseph. She takes over the university's top finance post from Controller and Interim Vice President Dan Edmonds, who has been filling in since the retirement of Vice President for Finance and Support Services Ray Courter last summer.
