The seventh annual Old Glory Parade will begin at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 4, in Graham.

Anyone interested in driving or riding in the parade is welcome to participate. The only requirement is they must have a flag displayed in some way on their mode of transportation.

Terry Davis, who was born and raised in Graham, is coordinator for the parade.

"We invite anyone interested to get involved in the parade," he said. "One year we had a horse and buggy, but they had a hard time keeping up with the motorized vehicles. We have had old tractors or trucks –– all kinds of vehicles. We've also had people riding bicycles."

Davis said the parade is going to be a bit different this year.

"Generally we start in Graham, go through Maitland and then end in Skidmore," he said. "This year we're going to start in Graham, go to Maitland, take Hwy. 113 to Skidmore, then Hwy V out of Skidmore and turn on Hwy ZZ and head back to Graham."

Davis said the parade has never been affected by rainy weather.

"They're talking about rain," he said. "I hope it doesn't affect the parade attendance."

Anyone interested in more information about the Old Glory Parade can contact Davis by calling either (816) 452-4178 or (816) 223-6694.
