The Maryville City Council Monday night will consider the appointment of a new Mozingo Lake Advisory Board.

The aldermen approved an ordinance July 12 authorizing establishment of a nine-member board to assist the city council in "determining the needs and desires of maintenance and improvements to Mozingo Lake Park and golf course areas."

The ordinance specifies the board be divided between residents living within the city and those outside the city but within Nodaway County. It stipulates that no more than four of the members can live outside the Maryville city limits. They must, however, live in the county. Of the remaining five members who must reside in the city, one of them is to be a member of the city council.

Maryville City Clerk Shelia Smail said this week that five persons who live within the city had submitted applications. There are seven additional applicants from outside the city.

Maryville residents who have applied for appointment are Jim Fall, Jon Gustafson, Dale Mathes, Michael Graham and Alan Langley. County residents include Ed Higdon, Lesley Schulte, David Dredge, Vicci Walter, Andy Abbott, Donald Sullivan and Daniel Billings.
