St. Gregory's Catholic School sixth grade Teacher Jenni Halley, left, directs students Rachel Auffert and Hannah Hall, along with others from her class to unload 1,076 pairs of shoes Thursday at the home of The Rev. James Lawson.

The class began an initiative in the Catholic school and church asking families to donate slightly used or new pairs of shoes.

Lawson said he will be collecting shoes throughout the rest of the month before sending them to  Soles4Souls. For more information, contact Lawson at (660) 582-2618.
