Northeast Nodaway gained a double-digit advantage in the second quarter and maintained it during a high scoring second half to beat West Nodaway 63-51 Tuesday night in Burlington Junction.
The Jays went from up two at the end of the first quarter to up 11 at the half after outscoring West Nodaway 17-8 in the second quarter.
West Nodaway couldn't gain much ground in the second half despite putting up 33 points and 20 in the fourth. The Jays did one better with 34 points, including 22 in the fourth.
The Jays had three double-figure scorers and all seven had at least five points.
Aaron Patton led the way with 15 points and was 7-10 at the foul line. Kevin Stoll finished with 12 points.
Tyler Schmitz scored 10, all in the second half.
Dalton Welch added nine points. Jason Henggeler and Joel Scroggie had six apiece.
Steve Schulte had the other five.
West Nodaway also had three in double-figures led by Brandon Whittington with 16 points. Trevor Meyer finished with 13 points. Sage Jones added 11.
Whittington hit four three's, including three in the second half. The Rockets connected on seven as a team, while NEN had just one.
NEN made 13 more shots from inside the arc and four more free throws.
