"Serving with Hands and Heart" is the theme of the upcoming annual bazaar planned by First United Methodist Church's United Methodist Women's group. The church is located at 102 North Main in Maryville.
The fundraiser, an Election Day tradition, is set for Tuesday, Nov. 5, and will begin at 7 a.m. with doughnuts, rolls, coffee and juice.
But note, though Nov. 5 is indeed an approved general election date in Missouri, there will be no voting in Nodaway County because there are no issues or races to be decided.
In addition to the "Warm Your Soul" snack stand, the event will include such booths as "Holidays With Heart Strings" (home decor and ornaments); "Hand Stitched With Love" (sewing and needlework); "Quiet Getaway" (books); "A Cupboard … Heart of the Home" (baked goods); "Memory Pieces" (scrapbook supplies); "Garden Bounty" (plants, seeds and bulbs); and "Mix It With Love" (mixes, cookies, meat rubs, drinks, muffins and soups).
"The Lunch Basket" cafe will begin serving at 11 a.m. Menu includes vegetable soup, sloppy joes, chicken salad sandwiches, salads and pie.
One drawing winner will take home a queen-sized quilt stitched by Sara Gorsuch and hand quilted by the church's quilting club. Other prizes are to include gift baskets, a stepping stone and an oil painting.
All proceeds benefit United Methodist Women ministries.
