An employment fair in which area job seekers will have a chance to meet representatives from local employers will take place from 1 p.m.-8 p.m Wednesday at the Maryville Community Center, located at 1407 N. Country Club Road.
Divided into three segments, the fair will welcome current and former employees of the Energizer battery plant from 1-2 p.m. and again from 7-8 p.m. Employer stations will be open to the general public from 2-7 p.m.
The Energizer plant announced late last year that it was closing due to a corporate reorganization. The closure means that about 400 local workers will have lost their jobs when the plant ceases operations next month.
Employers represented at the fair are to include Nucor-LMP, Laclede Chain Mfg., the Missouri Department of Corrections, Village Care Center, the Gateway Foundation, Northwest Missouri State University, Kawasaki Motors Mfg., Maryville Glass & Lock and others.
The fair is being sponsored by the Missouri Division of Workforce Development in cooperation with the Greater Maryville Chamber of Commerce and Nodaway County Economic Development.
