Two Hopkins residents suffered moderate injuries Thursday morning in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 246 and Second Street.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when Donna L. Riley, 72, driving southbound in a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan, failed to yield after stopping and pulled into the path of a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu driven westbound on 246 by 19-year-old Christina R. Roberts.
Both drivers were taken by Nodaway County ambulance to St. Francis Hospital & Health Services in Maryville. The women were wearing seat belts, and airbags deployed in each vehicle.
Declared totaled at the scene, the car and van, which remained upright after impact, were towed to a Maryville body shop.
Trooper S.E. Pritzel was assisted in working the accident by Hopkins Fire & Rescue and the Nodaway County Sheriff's Office.
