The work of mixed media artist Susan White is launching the 2013-'14 season at Northwest Missouri State University’s Olive DeLuce Art Gallery.
The exhibit, which opened Monday, will be on display in the gallery, located in the DeLuce Fine Arts Building across the street from Bearcat Arena, through Sunday Dec. 7.
White works primarily with pyrographs, which are works on paper created through a scorching or burning process. Her most recent pieces consist of portrait silhouettes intended to explore "psychological architecture" and "interior states of being."
White received a bachelor of fine arts degree from the Kansas City Art Institute and pursued graduate studies at the Rhode Island School of Design. Her work has been supported by grants from the Arts Council of Metropolitan Kansas City, the Salina Art Center and the Lighton International Artist Exchange Program.
More information about White and her work is available at www.susan-white.com.
The exhibit is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and 1:30 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
