Melinda Kelsey, Maryville, a graphic designer in Northwest Missouri State University’s Office of University Relations, has received the 2013 APEX Award for Publication Excellence for her design and layout of the university's 2012-'13 undergraduate viewbook.
Published in August, the viewbook is distributed annually to thousands of prospective Northwest students and their families.
The APEX international awards program recognizes excellence in publications work by professional communicators. Other winners in the design and layout category included Walt Disney Co., Monmouth University and Lockheed Martin.
John DeLellis, editor and publisher of Communication Concepts, the company that sponsors the competition, said the APEX Awards are based on excellence in editorial content, graphic design and the ability to achieve overall communications effectiveness and excellence.
The Northwest Alumni Magazine, also designed by Kelsey, is a two-time winner of the APEX Award, having received the accolade in 2007 and 2011.
