Sorry I have been away, this article will probably help explain why.

Not many of you know that my family has been cursed for decades.
Ever since my mother and father were married there has been almost a curse-like state hovering over our household.
You see, my mother always wanted a daughter. Heck, I was supposed to be that daughter.
After her fifth son, me, and developing cancer, she was forced to give up her dream of ever having one.
Which was perplexing because her siblings were all popping out girls like they were a part of an all-girl Pez despensing birthing ring.
Anyway, she turned to her sons in the hopes of having a granddaughter she could eventually call her own.
With her oldest, well let’s just say that he has other interests other than starting a family. I am sure he would like to, he just doesn’t date, ever.
Since you usually need a second person, in theory, to start having kids, that could be a hinderance.
Then there was boy number 2. Well he struck quickly since the women he married had a young daughter.
So, instant granddaughter.
Well, my mom loves this girl with all her heart but she also knows that this isn’t blood of her blood.
Boy number 2 followed up instant granddaughter with two boys of his own.
Boy number 3, tragically died crib death. (love you Ronny).
Boy number 4 would make a great dad and has a wonderful bride.
I love them both dearly and it hurt me intensely when I found out that they couldn’t bear children of their own.
Just doesn’t make sense that two people who I consider to the best candidates to be great and loving parents cannot have kids.
Just doesn’t seem fair does it when people throw kids out like yesterday’s trash.
Finally we come to boy number 5, me.
Now mom had to wait a few years for me. I was kind of a late bloomer, not getting married until into my 30s.
Then, my lovely bride and I decided to spend time together before we built a family.
Plus we weren’t living in Maryville yet.
After moving here, we decided to start a family.
First baby out, a boy.
Second baby out, a boy.
Starting to see why our family, jokingly, calls it the curse?
So if you are adding it up, since my mom and dad’s marriage: Boys 9, girls 0. (well besides instant granddaughter).
Page 2 of 2 - Well, as some of you may know, that curse ended on July 1, 2013 at 7:28 pm in St. Francis Hospital here in Maryville.
Keely Julia was born and became the first female born in my mother and father’s line.
Thus, breaking the curse of the Darling Boys.
And my mom couldn’t be happier. Plus, Keely is just so darn cute.
