This 1950 Mayrath garden tractor was on display at Hy-Vee in Maryville on Tuesday. The tractor is owned by Jim and Judy Galbreath of Barnard.
Only 500 of this model were built by the Mayrath Machinery Company in Dodge City, Kan. The original cost was $395, and several attachments were available for purchase including a mower, a plow and a planter.
The model boasted a wide spring-mounted seat, a speed of up to 30 miles per hour and 60 miles per gallon of gasoline. The Galbreath's are members of the Heart of America Tractor Club. Anyone wishing to join can visit their website, www.heartofamerica.com.
