Burlington Junction will kick off Nodaway County's annual round of summer celebrations and festivals this weekend with Town & Country Days.
This year's three-day fair will include the inaugural "Walk to Remember" on Saturday morning. The 5K run/walk is being held in honor of veterans and serving members of the U.S. military.
Friday events will include the Little Mr. and Miss Pageant at 6 p.m. followed by a queen contest for girls 12-18. Dancing with music provided by Livewire Entertainment begins at 8 p.m. downtown
Also Friday, a spaghetti dinner will be served by the American Legion beginning at 5 p.m. at the United Methodist Church.
Saturday's run/walk gets underway at 8 a.m. outside City Hall with the parade to follow at 11 a.m. Other events throughout the day include a flea market, pedal pull, hot dog eating contest and tractor show.
The Curtis Stroud band will provide live music for dancing from 7-11 p.m. downtown.
Returning this year will be a "Cowboy Church" worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday in the city park. Sponsored by the Hoof & Horn Saddle Club, the service will be preceded by breakfast in the park starting at 8 a.m.
