As long as the seedings hold up at Saturday's Class 1 Sectional 4 Meet in Holden, Nodaway-Holt junior Megan Rosenbohm will be competing in a career-high four events at state this year.
A top four finish at sectionals is required to advance to the Class 1 State Track & Field Meet in Jefferson City May 17-18, and Rosenbohm is seeded fourth or better in all of hers.
She's the top seed in both the triple jump (35-0.75) and 400M dash (1:02.20), the second seed in the 200M dash and the fourth seed in the long jump.
A five-time state medalist, Rosenbohm won the triple jump, 400M dash and 200M dash at Tuesday's Class 1 District 8 Meet in Albany and finished third in the long jump, scoring 36 of her team's 42 points.
Rosenbohm is the only top seed among all the county's sectional qualifiers, but five other girls and three boys are seeded inside the top four.
Jefferson's Shanna Welch, a three-time state qualifier, made it to sectionals in all four of her events and is favored to get to state in two of them.
She's the second seed in the long jump and the third seed in the triple jump. Welch ran the fifth-fastest time in the 100M hurdles and the sixth-fastest in the 300M hurdles, requiring a slight upset in both events to get to state.
West Nodaway's Emily Cordell ran second in the 400M dash behind Rosenbohm at districts and is seeded third in the event. She also has a decent chance to qualify for state in the 400M dash, seeded fifth.
North Nodaway's Alysa Lyle and district champion Taryn Farnan from Northeast Nodaway share the third seed in a tightly bunched high jump field. Lyle qualified for state in the high jump last year and finished 10th. Farnan is seeking her first state appearance.
Jefferson's Kristen Nielson finished second at districts in the discus and is seeded fourth, putting her in contention to join Welch at state.
Nodaway Holt's Jordan Long is right on the bubble in the shot put, seeded fifth. The same is true of West Nodaway's 4 x 400M relay team which is also seeded fifth, less than a second behind fourth place Worth County.
Northeast Nodaway freshman Jill Spire (100M dash) and Jefferson's Margaret Guss (800M run) are both seeded eighth and have serious ground to make up in order to advance any further.
The top seeded boys sectional qualifier from the county is Northeast Nodaway senior Sage DeLong. He finished second in the 100M dash at districts and owns the third-fastest time in the sectional field.
Seeded fourth are West Nodaway's Trevor Meyer (long jump), and Northeast Nodaway's Steve Schulte (triple jump).

Meyer also qualified for sectionals in the 200M dash but has the longest odds of making it to state, seeded eighth. The other three boys sectional qualifiers—Nodaway-Holt's Wade Saxton (100M dash, 200M dash), Nodaway-Holt's Derek Lemon (1600M run) and West Nodaway's Clay Mitchell (400m dash)—are seeded sixth or below.
The Class 1 Sectional 4 Meet gets underway at 11 a.m. with the first set of field events.
