Northwest Missouri State sophomore Steph Charteris continued to battle Monday in the second round of the NCAA Central Region Championships as she sits in the top 30.
Charteris posted an 86 for her second round at the St. Joseph Country Club, four strokes higher than her first round score of 82. The Canada-native sits tied for 29th as two double bogeys was the difference in her position outside the top 15.
Two golfers currently sit tied for the lead after day two, as Rebecka Surtevall of Arkansas Tech and Marisa Toivonen of Augustana (S.D.) finished with a two day total of 154. The leaders currently hold a 14 stroke lead over Charteris as her 86 moves her score to 168 after the second round.
Central Oklahoma's Aly Seng is one stroke back of the two co-leaders in third place. Teammate Erica Bensch is seventh.
Missouri Western's Natalie Bird shot a second straight 82 and is tied for 13th.
Today's final round will tee off at 8:30 a.m. as Charteris will play in the first pairing of the day.
