Maryville High School students belonging to Future Active Citizens of Tomorrow recently returned from a field trip to Silver Dollar City in Branson.
The club was founded by Special Services teacher Judy Lawyer in 1979 as a co-curricular activity for students not involved in other organizations. Previous trips have taken club members to New York City, Philadelphia, Colorado, the Grand Canyon, Chicago and Oklahoma City.
The group raises funds for its trips by selling concessions at sporting events and hosting pancake and chili suppers. Students plan all aspects of the outings including figuring the cost of gasoline, food and other expenses.
While in the Ozarks April 17-19, FACT members also took in Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede and toured Table Rock Dam and Talking Caverns. Lawyer and Hannah Erspamer helped sponsor the trip with assistance from Dr. Roger and Diane Francis.
