In a dual played through severe wind gusts, the Maryville boys tennis team lost to Savannah 6-3 Wednesday at the Northwest High Rise Courts.
Savannah dominated at the lower end of the ladder, winning all four singles matches from No. 3 on down and the two doubles matches below No. 1.
Maryville's Ben Goecken and Michael Filips combined on all three match wins at No. 1 singles, No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles.
Goecken blanked Craig Helm 8-0 in their No. 1 singles match, while Filips downed Brandon Prater 8-4 at No. 2.
Goecken/Filips produced an 8-4 win over Helm/Prater at No. 1 doubles.
Maryville's Hunter Hawthorne and Tristan Coy each lost 1-8 at No. 3 and No. 5 singles. Their opponents were Austin Nolan and Max Aldrich.
Jacob Katison went down 0-8 to Corey Coburn at No. 3 singles. It was Colton Vulgamott over Maryville's Taylor Wallace 8-3 at No. 6 singles.
Katison/Hawthorne suffered a 2-8 loss to Nolan/Coburn at No. 2 doubles. Wallace/Coy were handed a 1-8 loss by Aldrich/Krumme at No. 3.
The Hounds conclude a stretch of four matches in four days today when they host Chillicothe at 4 p.m. The MEC Tournament is Friday in St. Joseph.
