Playing for the second straight day, the Maryville boys tennis team lost to Clarinda 5-2 Tuesday in a road dual shortened by lightning in the area.
Clarinda won four of the six singles matches and the one completed doubles match at No. 1 to lock up the victory.
Maryville was up 4-2 and down 2-1 in the two doubles matches that didn't get finished.
The Hounds' two singles wins came from Ben Goecken and Tristan Coy.
Goecken took apart Nate Jones in an 8-0 win at No. 1. Coy survived a tiebreaker at No. 6 to win 8-8 (7-4).
At 2-5 singles, Michael Filips, Hunter Hawthorne, Jacob Katison and Sean Skipper each lost by the same 8-1 score.
In order, their opponents were Dedrick Kettwick, Austin Smith, Nick Clement and Trey Stickler. At No. 1 doubles, Kettwick/Smith defeated Goecken/Filips 8-2.
Katison/Hawthorne were up 4-2 at No. 2 when play was suspended.
The Hounds play their third match in as many days today when they host Savannah at 4 p.m.
