Northwest finished day one at 328, tied with Drury and just four strokes behind second place Southwestern Oklahoma at 324.
With three individuals in the top 20, the Bearcats were led by Kristina D'Angela who finished with a first round 80 and is tied for ninth.
D'Angela closes the first day just five strokes behind Arkansas Tech's Rebecka Surtevall who closed with a low round 75.
Steph Charteris and Cassie Lowell joined D'Angela in the top 20 as Charteris finished with an 81 as Lowell was close behind the leaders after a first round 83.
Tuesday's final round tees off from Branson Creek Golf Course at 8 a.m.
