The Maryville chapter of Modern Woodmen, the Nodaway County Firefighter's Association and the Hopkins Community Club will host a benefit luncheon next month for flood and fire victims in northwest Missouri.
The luncheon will take place from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday, April 7, at the Hopkins Community Building. Cost for the pulled pork meal is $6 for adults and $3 for children.
The first $2,500 raised will be matched by Modern Woodmen. All proceeds go to the American Red Cross.
"With this project, every dollar truly counts," Modern Woodmen chapter coordinator Maria Houston said. "It's exciting to be involved in a project that is so important to our community."
Auction items offered for sale during the event will include baked goods, gift certificates, toys, clothing, tools and household items.
Those unable to attend can make donations on behalf of the Red Cross through Nodaway Valley Bank.
Anyone wishing to provide auction items or salads and desserts for the meal should email Houston at firstname.lastname@example.org or call Lloyd Hansen at (712) 427-0137 or Mike Runde at (660) 562-7624.
All monetary donations are tax deductible.
