Northwest Missouri State University has named Nola Bond as vice president of human resources. She replaces University Police Chief Clarence Green, who has been serving on an interim basis since longtime HR chief Mary Throener retired last year.
Bond’s duties will include employee recruitment, appraisal, retention, professional development, workforce planning and compensation and benefits.
"Nola is an accomplished human resource leader with proven expertise in strategic planning and leading organizational change. Her background and expertise are suited perfectly to help continue moving Northwest forward as an organization that focuses on student success," said Northwest President John Jasinski.
Bond comes to Northwest from Eaton Corp. in Shenandoah, Iowa, where she was responsible for leading the HR department in a 600-employee operation.
"I am honored to serve Northwest as its vice president of human resources," Bond said. "I'm confident my diverse human resource experiences will be valuable to the continued success of the university. Growing up in southwest Iowa, I’m aware of the values and honored traditions the university holds."
Bond, who has a degree in human resource management from Bellevue (Neb.) University, has received numerous certifications, including Senior Professional in Human Resources, Professional in Human Resources and Certified Change Management Specialist. She is to begin work on campus April 8.
Earlier this year, Northwest announced that it had hired university alumna Carol Wisecarver to fill the HR slot. However, Wisecarver, lead staffing manager for Novartis Consumer Health (OTC) in Lincoln, Neb., later declined to accept the position.
