The Northwest Missouri State women's tennis team rebounded with an important 6-3 victory over East Central (Okla.) Friday at the Frank Grube Tennis Courts.
The Bearcats improved to 4-3 on the season as the Tigers fell to 1-4 overall. Northwest was able to recover from a heartbreaking loss Thursday to conference foe, Central Oklahoma, for an in-region win.
The 22nd-ranked doubles team of Camila Quesada and Alexis Bartek won their third straight match and fifth of the season with an 8-4 win at the No. 1 doubles position.
The Bearcats took a 2-1 lead after doubles play when Gisela Font and Natalia Galindo won at No. 2 doubles, 8-4 as well.
Quesada continued her impressive singles play, taking a 6-3, 6-4 win at the No. 1 position over Marta Valles.
Alexis Bartek also used the momentum from her doubles win for her fourth singles win of the season at No. 3 knocking off Elisabeth Dignard, 6-2, 6-0.
After wins at No. 2 and No. 5 singles for the Tigers, Northwest picked up an impressive win from Emily Hoffman at No. 6 singles to seal the victory. Hoffman defeated Agostina Moran, 6-3, 6-2.
Northwest returns to action Wednesday as they host MIAA rival Missouri Western.
