Dazzlers finish high at meet

The Maryville High School Dazzlers recently competed at the Missouri Dance Team Championship in St. Louis.

Classed in the 1A Division, the MHS squad placed second in a field of five teams in the kick routine competition and second again in a field of ten teams in the pom routine category.

The Dazzlers began their season with conditioning and weight training over the summer. They also attended a Universal Dance Association camp at the University of Central Missouri in
Warrensburg, where they received several awards.

Regular performances embrace all home football and basketball games as well as pep assemblies.

Additional appearances during the school year have included the Northwest Area Special Olympics Basketball Tournament at Northwest Missouri State University and various charity events.

Team members are Taylor Walter, Lindsey Cohen, Conner Hetzler, Maddie Von Behren, Maddie Jones, Callie Mattson, Ashlyn Wiederholt, Tessa Graves, Debrielle Merrill, Brooklyn Green, Cynthia Swalley and Nickala Allen.

The Dazzlers are coached by Lindsay Jordan, April Lawyer and Natalie Bannister with additional assistance from Mallary Weingaertner.
