  • A boil-water advisory issued Monday evening by the city of Maryville has been lifted as of approximately 3:40 p.m. Wednesday.
The advisory became necessary after a pipe break at the municipal water treatment plant late Sunday morning lowered pressure in some parts of town and created the possibility of back-flow from toilets and other fixtures.
Staff from PeopleService Inc., the company under contract by the city to run the treatment plant, spent Tuesday taking samples from various collection points and driving through blizzard conditions in order to get them to a laboratory.
According to a city of Maryville release, A total of ten samples were tested and found to be bacteria free.
Full service has been restored, and city water is now considered safe for normal consumption.
Anyone with questions or concerns should call Steve Guthrie, region manager of PeopleService, at (712) 242-5217 or lead plant operator Joe Finch at (712) 242-5208.
