  • The Northwest Missouri State baseball will have to wait again before playing their home opener as this weekend's series against Lindenwood has shifted to the St. Louis area due to nearly a foot of snow in northwest Missouri late this week.
The series will open Sunday evening with first pitch scheduled for 5 p.m. at GCS Ballpark in Sauget, Ill. – GCS Ballpark is home to the Gateway Grizzles of the Frontier League. The Bearcats and Lions will tangle in a twin bill Monday starting at 11 a.m. to close out the series.
The Bearcats were forced to move their home opener Wednesday against Nebraska-Kearney to Topeka, which was also played a day early to beat the expected winter weather. Northwest fell in the double-header as the Lopers used a late rally to sweep both games.
Northwest stands at 1-7 on the season and 1-4 in league play while the Lions are 2-5 and 2-1 in the MIAA. It will be the first meeting since 2003 when the Bearcats swept a double-header to take a 3-1 lead in the all-time series vs. Lindenwood.
