Area boys roundup: Eagles grab share of 15th straight PVC title

Jefferson's boys won a back-and-forth game over DeKalb 52-49 Thursday to claim a share of their 15th consecutive PVC title.

The Eagles (16-10, 6-1) went in front for good on a layup by Zach Jermain in the fourth quarter.

Jermain led three Eagles with 14 points and was joined in double-figures by Kyler Farnan (12 points) and Blake Meyer (10 points).

DeKalb's Austin Hall had a game-high 17 points, with 11 of those coming in the second quarter. Timmy LeRoy tossed in 16 points.

Nodaway-Holt 69 South Holt 23

The Trojans rebounded from a loss to Albany the night before with an emphatic 69-23 pasting of South Holt in Friday's regular season finale in Graham.

Nodaway-Holt (17-8, 5-2) outscored South Holt (0-22, 0-7) by 46 points through the first three quarters.

The Trojans scored at least 17 in each one and gave up no more than seven.

Able to empty the bench in the second half, the Trojans ended up with 11 scorers in the game.

Nick Patterson hit three, three-pointers and led the Trojans with 12 points. Derek Lemon, Stephen Schniedermeyer and Dylan Gallagher each had eight points. Devin Albertson and Brice Shamberger each had seven followed by Cody Schniedermeyer with six.

Tobin Sisk led South Holt with 10 points.

North Nodaway 62 Craig-Fairfax 57

The Mustangs held off a fourth quarter charge from Craig-Fairfax to win Friday's regular season finale 62-57 in Hopkins.

North Nodaway led 39-28 at the half and was up 10 entering the fourth quarter before the Hornets made things interesting late.

The Mustangs (4-18) received 24 points apiece from Trent Coleman and Koby Reynolds who hit four three-pointers. Brother Austin Reynolds (10 points) knocked down two from long distance.

CFX's Tristan Ray led all scorers with 27 points. Jake Doughty (14 points) and Grant Hopkins (11 points) were also in double-figures.

Mound City 55 West Nodaway 38

The Rockets were right in the game with Mound City through the three quarters, but their bubble burst in the fourth of a 55-38 loss Friday night in Burlington Junction.

Mound City outscored West Nodaway 18-6 in the final quarter, building a five-point lead well into double-digits. Brett Johnson led the Panther attack with 19 points. Hayden Marrs kicked in 10 points. Two others had eight.

Freshman Jaden Gillenwater topped West Nodaway with 17 points and Trevor Meyer finished with 12.
