• Lady Hounds lose regular season finale to Savages

  • After getting off to a blistering start offensively, the Lady Hounds completely ran out of steam in a 56-31 loss to Savannah Thursday night in the regular season finale.
    Maryville scored 15 first quarter points and 24 in the first 12 minutes, but had just seven more the rest of the game and none in the third quarter.
    Savannah went on a 25-0 run that began in the second quarter and concluded early in the fourth to go from six down to 19 ahead.
    Maryville broke its second half drought with back-to-back baskets to start the fourth quarter before Savannah closed the game on a 13-3 run.
    The Lady Hounds finished the regular season at 6-18 overall and 0-7 in the MEC. They've now lost 11 of their past 12 games.
    Maryville's only double-figure scorer was Blair Twaddle with 10 points, all of which came in the first half.
    Chelsea Byland finished with seven points and Gabby Church had six.
    Savannah had a trio of double-figure scorers consisting of Hanna Miller (16 points), Carly Cox (14 points) and Taylor Thompson (10 points).
    All 10 of Thompson's points came in the second half and included two three's.
    No. 8 seed Maryville takes on top-seeded Hamilton in the first round of Class 3 District 16 play Monday night at 7:15 at Bishop LeBlond.
