Area Basketball: Eagles blow away Union Star
Jefferson's boys outscored Union Star by five in two quarters and 11 in the other two to forge a 56-24 win Tuesday night in Conception Junction.
The Eagles (15-9, 5-1) yielded just 12 points in each half, including two in the fourth quarter and three in the second. They also scored between 13 and 15 points in every quarter.
Jefferson's Kyler Farnan had his best offensive game of the year with 19 points. Zach Jermain finished with 13 and nailed three, three's.
Bryce Deen added eight points and Blake Meyer had seven. Eight Union Star players scored, but none had more than six points.
Stewartsville 50 South Nodaway 29
In control throughout, Stewartsville raced past South Nodaway for a 50-29 win Tuesday night.
Stewartsville (7-16, 3-4) outscored South Nodaway by six or more points in each of the first three quarters to lead 35-15.
South Nodaway nearly doubled its point total in a 14-point fourth quarter that came too late.
Stewartsville's Justin Burris was the only double-figure scorer on either team with 13 points. Three other Stewartsville players kicked in eight points.
Silas Nielson topped South Nodaway with eight points. Dakota Murphy tossed in seven.
Northeast Nodaway 47 Mound City 42 (2OT)
The Bluejays knocked off the No. 1 seed in Class 1 District 16 in double overtime Tuesday night in Ravenwood. No statistics were available.

South Nodaway dominated the third quarter at both ends to pull away from Stewartsville for a 46-22 win Tuesday night.
The Longhorns held Stewartsville scoreless in the period and had its highest quarterly total of 15 points.
This stretched a six-point lead to 21 going to the fourth.
South Nodaway's defense was very good throughout, limiting Stewartsville to eight points or less in all four quarters.
The Longhorns top two scorers were LeAnn Walker with 11 points and Andrea Henggeler with 10.
Malainee Hilsabeck tossed in eight points. Five other Longhorns scored in the game.
Randi Schottel led Stewartsville with nine points and hit a three.
Jefferson 56 Union Star 9
The Lady Eagles had their way with Union Star throughout a 56-9 win Tuesday that moved them within one game of clinching the PVC title outright.
Jefferson allowed just five points through the first three quarters and finished the third ahead 48-5.
The Eagles (17-7, 6-0) spread the scoring out, with three in double-figures and nine total players that scored.
Ashley Chor registered a game-high 12 points followed by Shanna Welch with 11 and Jill Henry with 10. Chor hit a pair of three-pointers.
Jessie Henry added eight points.

The Panthers raced out to a big lead and maintained it throughout the second half of Tuesday's win over Northeast Nodaway in Ravenwood.
