Area Boys Roundup: Eagles win rivalry game over NEN
Jefferson and Northeast Nodaway played an even game Tuesday night, except for the third quarter.
The Eagles outscored NEN by 10 during that eight minute stanza and won by that same margin 47-37 in Conception Junction.
Jefferson's 18 point third quarter was their best of the game and exceeded their first half total of 15 points. Each team scored 14 fourth quarter points.
Jefferson's two leading scorers, Zach Jermain and Jordan McCrary, combined to hit seven three-pointers.
Jermain had four of those and scored 17 points. McCrary made the other three and finished with 13.
NEN's Steve Schlute matched Jermain with four three's and scored 14 points. Aaron Patton hit double-figures as well with 10.
Jefferson is now 13-9 on the year.
St. Joseph Christian 60 Nodaway-Holt 38
After a strong opening quarter, Nodaway-Holt's boys struggled the rest of the way in a 60-38 loss to St. Joseph Christian Tuesday night in Graham.
The Lions outscored Nodaway-Holt 52-25 over the final three quarters and 41-12 in the second half.
St. Joseph Christian blew it open in the third quarter, stretching a three-point lead to 17.
The Lions (15-7) were led by Robbie Kaufman with 17 points and Brandon Shank with 15.
Stephen Schniedermeyer (12 points) and Brice Shamberger (10 points) were in double-figures for Nodaway-Holt (15-7). Nick Patterson added seven points.
Mound City 37 South Nodaway 31
South Nodaway's bid for a road upset ran out of steam in the fourth quarter of a 37-31 loss to Mound City Tuesday night.
The Longhorns led by three at start of the quarter, but were outscored 13-4 the rest of the way.
Mound City (11-8) had scored nine points or fewer in each of the first three quarters. Luke Sanders hit a pair of three's and led the Panthers with 12 points.
Dakota Murphy also had 12 points with a pair of three's to lead the Longhorns.
