  • The Northwest Opry has found a new home at the Nodaway County Senior Center.
Performances at the new location will be from 2-4:40 p.m. every Sunday.
"We've been trying to go there for awhile," band member Charles Smith said. "We've been playing there once a month, we like to go and entertain the seniors."
The band has six steady members, but some performances will have roughly a dozen people singing, strumming and picking.
Northwest Opry likes to pick their venues, choosing not to play at locations that sell alcohol or allow smoking.
Since a fair amount of their music is gospel, Smith said that the center provides a perfect place to help spread the word of Jesus Christ as well as entertain.
"When people come out to dance, it's good exercise, relaxation and fellowship," Smith said. "Everyone looks forward to coming out for some dancing."
Smith said that their shows sometimes have around 100 people in attendance.
Northwest Opry also plays from 6-9 p.m. at the Andrew County Senior Center in Savannah on Saturdays.
