• Rocket boys rip CFX at home

  • West Nodaway's boys took it to Craig-Fairfax at both ends for the duration of a 48-14 win Monday night in Burlington Junction.
    The Rockets (13-9) held CFX to six points or less in every quarter and scored 42 in the first three.
    Their halftime lead grew to 31-5 after shutting out CFX in the second quarter and scoring 18 points.
    CFX had just one first half field goal and three for the game. Half of its 14 points were scored at the foul line.
    The Rockets had nine players contribute offensively. Their top scorers were Jaden Gillenwater and Jonathon Madere, each with 10 points.
    All of Gillenwater's points were scored in the first half. He hit a pair of first quarter three-pointers. Madere had eight first half points.
    Trevor Meyer added seven points and made a third quarter three. Ryan Evans and Jakob Cordell each had six points. Blake Farnan tossed in four.
    CFX's only three scorers were Wyatt Drewes (seven points), Grant Hopkins (four points) and Keifer Nemeyer (three points).
    West Nodaway's next game is Friday at home against Nodaway-Holt.
    In the girls game, the Lady Rockets beat Craig-Fairfax 46-40 for just its second win and first at home all year.
    West Nodaway (2-18) won its first game last week at Northeast Nodaway by one point.
    No stats were available for the girls game.
