Eugene Luther, formerly of Maitland, MO, died on Wednesday, January, 16th, 2013. He was the son of Elmer and Rilla Luther, formerly residents of Maryville, MO.
Eugene graduated from Maitland High School in 1941, attended Central Methodist College in Fayette, MO. And George Washington University, Washington, D.C. where he received a Baccalaureate Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Juris Doctor with Honors in 1951.
He became a member of the Bar of the Commonwealth of Virginia also in 1951. Eugene served as a Marine fighter pilot in WW II flying the F4U- Corsair. He was a Military Legal Officer during the Korean War. He was raised a Master Mason in Maitland Lodge AF & AM #112 on August 13, 1946, which is now Oregon Lodge AF & AM #139, Forest City, MO.
He became a 32nd degree Mason of the Scottish Rite and at the time of death was a member of the Scottish Rite, Alexandria, VA. He was also a Shriner and a member of Kena Temple in Fairfax, VA and Royal Arch Masons, Arlington, VA #35.
Eugene is preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor.
He is survived by two sisters, Helen Rowlett, Kansas City, MO, and Dorothy E. Stiens, Maryville, MO; three daughters, Tara Schmohl, Broomfield, CO, Tanya Kukral, Highlands Ranch, CO and Lura Teeter, Charlotte, NC. He had three grandsons, Parker J. Kukral, Rhett C. Teeter and Keanen G. Teeter.
Funeral Services will be held at 1PM, Tuesday, January 22nd at Fairfax Memorial Home in Fairfax, VA. Interment will be at Arlington National cemetery with full military honors at a later date.
