Maryville's boys basketball team concluded a stretch of four straight road games Friday night with a painful 40-37 loss to Savannah.
Down by one, Maryville had a chance to win it in the closing seconds, but Jonathan Baker's go-ahead shot attempt was blocked by Savannah's Zane Wilt.
The Savages regained possession with 2.9 seconds left and ran out the remaining time on a break-away layup by Jessie Dickens.
Maryville fell to 12-4 and had a four-game win streak snapped. Savannah improved to 6-9.
The Hounds only lead of the game 2-0. Savannah held as much as a 10-point lead in the first half and a nine-point lead in the second half.
Baker led the Hounds in scoring with 16 points and produced all of 10 of the team's fourth quarter points. Savannah was led by Zane Wilt with nine points.
