Jefferson held off a furious fourth quarter charge from Class 1 No. 5 North Andrew to spring a 45-42 upset win Tuesday night in Conception Junction.
The Lady Eagles had lost both previous meetings to North Andrew in the finals of the PVC Tournament and the semifinals of the Stanberry Tournament last week by double-digit margins.
Since this game counted toward the conference standings, it puts Jefferson in the driver's seat to win its third straight Platte Valley Conference title.
Jefferson got off to a fast start and finished the first quarter ahead 13-4. An even second quarter sent the Eagles to the half up 22-13.
The Eagles increased their lead to 15 points at the end of the third quarter before North Andrew made a run in the fourth quarter that left them three points short.
Both teams attempted 28 free throws and hit under 50 percent.
The difference was the three-point line where Jefferson made three and North Andrew made one.
Shanna Welch and Jessie Henry each scored 10 points to lead Jefferson. Sarah Kemper added eight points and hit a three.
North Andrew's Danielle Chambers led all scorers with 14 points.
NE Nodaway 32 South Nodaway 23
After a one point first quarter, Northeast Nodaway got its offense in gear and stormed past South Nodaway for a 32-23 win Tuesday night in Barnard.
The Ladyjays outscored South Nodaway 31-16 over the final three quarters, scoring at least 10 points in each one. They also held South Nodaway to seven points or less in all four quarters.
Bluejay junior Taryn Farnan led all scorers with 10 points. Claudia Wiederholt scored six. Jill Spire and Dallis Coffelt each had five.
South Nodaway's Andrea Henggeler, LeeAnn Walker and Shea Miller each had six points.
Nodaway-Holt 64 Union Star 22
Nodaway-Holt bounced back with authority from a loss in the Fairfax Tournament finals, crushing Union Star 64-22 Tuesday night in Graham.
The Trojans (12-3) dominated the first three quarters, building a 57-12 lead.
Nodaway Holt was at its best in the third when it outscored Union Star 23-4.
Trojan guard Megan Rosenbohm led all scorers with 21 points. Jaylee Holmes delivered a season-high 11 points. Darcie Gallagher notched 10 points. Krysta Beattie added eight.
A total of 10 Lady Trojans scored in the game.
Craig-Fairfax 42 West Nodaway 35
West Nodaway got down by 13 points at the half and couldn't quite make up the deficit in the second half of a 42-35 loss to Craig-Fairfax Tuesday
The Hornets built most of their 27-14 halftime lead in the second quarter, outscoring West Nodaway 13-4.
West Nodaway rebounded in the third quarter to make it a nine-point game, but its comeback bid ran out of steam in the fourth quarter.
Ryan Hopkins nearly had half of CFX's point total, finishing with a game-high 20. Aleesha Ball tossed in 12 points.
Marissa Perkins led West Nodaway with 12 points. Deanna Harvey followed with 10 and Emily Cordell had six.
