  • Funeral services for Marjorie Shipley Moses, age 87, of Burlington Junction, Missouri, who entered into peace Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 23, 2012, at the Burlington Junction Christian Church with Pastor Josh Christy officiating. 
    Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Sunday.  Burial will be in the Ohio Cemetery in Burlington Junction, Missouri.  
    Memorials may be directed to the Burlington Junction Christian Church or the Ohio Cemetery Association.   Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on our website at www.ritchiefuneralhome.com under Obituaries.  Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of Clarinda, Iowa.
    Marjorie Shipley Moses was born May 3, 1925, in Grant City, Missouri, the daughter of Robert R. Shipley and Agnes (Clark) Shipley.  Her family moved to Burlington Junction when she was six years old and she grew up there.  She graduated from the Burlington Junction High School and received her Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Northwest Missouri State University.   On March 25, 1944, she was united in marriage to Charles R. Moses at the Methodist church in Kansas City, Kansas.
    Marjorie enjoyed teaching and began her teaching career in rural schools which involved first through eight grades. She then went into the Westboro School system in Atchison County where she taught third and fourth grades for 17 years.  From Westboro she transferred to the West Nodaway School where she taught for 13 years at Quitman and Clearmont Schools.  She retired from teaching after 37 years. 
    Following retirement, she became a full time homemaker, enjoying gardening, caring for flowers and reading.
    Marjorie was a member of the Elmo Christian Church, where she attended regularly with her husband Charles until her health prevented it, the Missouri Retired Teacher’s Association and the Rolla Dicks American Legion Auxiliary.
    Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband Charles Moses of Burlington Junction, Mo.; fourteen nieces and nephews and their spouses, Marvin Shipley (Pat); Donald Shipley, Robert D. Shipley (Delores); William D. Shipley; Eloise Carpenter (Richard); Nancy Quinn; Jean Peterson (Charley); Doris Stevens (Larry); Gail Shipley; John Shipley (Maria); Carolyn Shipley Sanders; Marilyn Shipley Linciam (Frank Ciongoli);Diane Shipley wife of Allen; Larry Groff husband of Frances and John Moberg husband of Susan.
    Preceding Marjorie in death are her parents, Robert R. and Agnes
    Shipley; three brothers, R. Willie and wife Helen Shipley; Pete and wife Bernadean Shipley and Alton Shipley; three nephews, Allen Shipley, Ray Quinn and Frex Sanders; nieces, Susan Moberg and Frances Shipley.
    Marjorie will be missed her loving husband, family and friends.
    Marjorie thoroughly enjoyed each and every year of her teaching experience!
    May God grant comfort and peace to those who mourn her passing.
