  • West Nodaway FFA sponsored a successful blood drive Tuesday at the school's elementary gym. The blood drive committee set a goal of 50/50, 50 units of blood and 50 items for Toys for Tots. They collected exactly 50 units of blood and approximately 80 toys.
"Donors were overwhelming in their generosity," Kenny Wilmes, sponsor of the school's FFA group said. "Several toys were collected at the Kiss My Grits Cafe in Burlington Junction."
The FFA club works with the St. Joseph Community Blood Center and hosts several blood drives per year.
Toys for Tots was in conjunction with the Maryville Today's Civic Women. Other helpers included Maryville HyVee, Maryville KNIM, KMA Radio, the Nodaway Newsleader, the Maryville Daily Forum, many students, FFA boosters and staff of the West Nodaway High School. The group's next blood drive is February 19, 2013.
